| Biomedical engineering | Biomedical engineering is such a multidisciplinary field. In addition to the technical and scientific challenges, BME also calls on the social responsibility of the engineer. Biomedical engineers need a solid technical background reinforced with medical know-how. They apply their knowledge in the development and improvement of instruments in such domains as minimally invasive surgery, diagnostics of movement disorders, joint replacement prostheses, pacemakers, imaging and image processing, microsensors and so on. |
| Chemical engineering | It trains engineers to handle the entire process of innovative thinking from molecules, reactor, design, and manufacturing. Examples are cosmetics, plastics, food, drugs, house ware, parts of your car and computers etc., but also advanced devices for the analysis of your blood or the air around us. |
| Integrated Product Design | In cooperation with the Medical faculty at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam (15 km from Delft), this special education programme was started. Healthcare is one of the most dynamic and growing areas of the medical field. The Medisign specialisation is aimed at students who want to specialise in designing products for healthcare. Medisign focuses on medical-technological projects in a professional setting. |
| Nanoscience and nanotechnology | Four leading research and educational institutions in Europe propose a joint Erasmus Mundus Master Course entitled Nanoscience and nanotechnology. The programme offered is a truly integrated program, with a strong research backbone and a very important international outreach. The objective of this course is to provide top quality multidisciplinary education in nanoscience and nanotechnology. The participating partners are: • Chalmers Tekniska Högskola (Chalmers), Sweden • Technische Universiteit Delft (TUD) & Universiteit Leiden (UL), The Netherlands • Technische Universität Dresden (TU Dresden), Germany • Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (K.U.Leuven),Belgium The Master programme teaches the basics of physics, biology and chemistry at the nanometer scale, and supplements this with courses on technology and engineering to promote an understanding of practical applications. |

| Medicine |
Information only available in dutch. |
