Medical Delta Café: The use of Big Data in dementia research

Leiden

03.30 - 06.00 p.m.

Data analysis offers enormous opportunities to medical research. At the same time, privacy laws and regulations play an increasingly prominent role in the use of datasets. From the scientific program Medical Delta Diagnostics 3.0: Dementia and Stroke, Prof. Dr. Wiro Niessen discusses an example where data analysis has helped improve the diagnosis of dementia.

At the same time, the Café raises a number of social, ethical and economic issues concerning the use of data. There is a need for good data which is hard to get, for instance. But there are also ethical issues. More insight through data means better diagnostics. Does that also lead to more treatments and more costs? And: do we want to know everything?

Register for the Medical Delta Café on Thursday, November 21th via this link.
