Minor Dynamics of a Healthy Society

Friday, April 7, 2023

The interdisciplinary minor 'Dynamics of a Healthy Society' provides students with skills and knowledge for analyzing real-life challenges in the field of health and well-being, such as obesity among toddlers, loneliness among youth, and coping with chronic illnesses.

Students analyze a specific challenge from the perspectives of psychology, public administration, and sociology, and work together with societal partners in a 'learning by doing' approach to make actual societal impact.

The minor consists of four different courses and is open to students from the LDE-universities and the Vital Delta universities of applied sciences. The four courses are:

  • Health Behaviour, Well-Being and the Role of Stress
  • Governing the Healthy Society
  • Socio-Cultural Perspectives on the Healthy Society
  • and Participatory Action Research with Interdisciplinary Reflection and Coaching

The central theme of this minor concerns the realization of an integral, interdisciplinary approach to health and well-being and the reduction of health inequalities.

Students learn to analyze health and well-being from different fields of study. In this minor, psychology, sociology, and public administration come together, enabling students to learn to look beyond the boundaries of a single scientific field. For fieldwork and interactions with citizens and societal partners, we work with Learning with the City.
