This fall, the fifth edition of the Thesis Lab ‘Groene Zorg’ by Medical Delta and Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Universities will begin. In a Thesis Lab, the most talented and motivated students work on a research question from real-world practice.
Healthcare clients can submit their sustainability questions via this link before August 17, 2025. This allows them to gain new insights and recommendations on their specific sustainability challenges. On Monday, September 1, the selected assignments will be announced; in November 2025, the matching between students and assignments will take place.
The central question of this fifth edition of the Thesis Lab is: What is needed to stimulate less waste and more reuse of medical devices and medicines in the Dutch healthcare sector?
We are looking for questions related to:
Reducing waste or consumption of medical devices or medicines;
Reusing medical devices or medicines
Circular redesign of medical devices.
There are several good reasons to submit a question as a case holder, including:
Easy matchmaking so you can find the best student for your organization and question. Students bring a wide range of expertise: healthcare, environment, business, technology, management, psychology, law, philosophy, anthropology.
Enrichment of your knowledge and network through (optional) participation in masterclasses and seminars.
New, refreshing research results that you can put into practice immediately.
Your effort?
About 1–2 hours per month of practical guidance for the student during the period February – July 2026, mainly for interviews, data, documents, and refining the research question. Additionally, we ask you to attend the roundtable session in April 2026 and the closing event in early July 2026 to contribute to the growing network around greening healthcare.
