How do we ensure that older adults continue to receive good care and support in the future? That is at the core of CARE VISiON. This month, the NWO-funded project officially kicked off.
Several researchers and consortium partners from Medical Delta programs are involved in CARE VISiON, including the Medical Delta 'Healthy society program', the Medical Delta Program ‘Accelerating impactful technological innovations in healthcare’ and the Medical Delta Program ‘Owning your health’.
CARE VISiON stands for 'Collaborative Approaches to Reimagining Elder Care: Values-driven Innovations in Samenredzaamheid for Older adults in the Netherlands'. Elderly care is under significant pressure: due to population ageing, increasing care demand, and staff shortages, the way care is currently organised is not sustainable in the long term. Within CARE VISiON, researchers work together with older adults, informal caregivers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, insurers, and technology developers to explore how we can transition from elderly care to care for older people.
A central question in this work is how technological innovation and 'samenredzaamheid' (shared self-reliance) can strengthen each other, rather than exist separately. These solutions are often driven by different values: technology tends to focus on efficiency and optimisation, while 'samenredzaamheid' revolves around connectedness, solidarity, and care relationships.
CARE VISiON explores how these values can be balanced and how they can guide innovations for the future of elderly care. The kick-off event resulted in inspiring discussions, new insights, and above all, a great deal of enthusiasm.
