Healthy Society Program adds sixth scaling project to its funding awards

After completion of the selection procedure, a sixth project has been added to the awarded scaling projects of the Healthy Society Program: creating vital and resilient neighborhoods through the scaling up of Vitality Clubs with district nurses.

This brings the total to six projects receiving funding from the Healthy Society Program to further scale up proven health interventions in South Holland.

The Vitality Club is a proven effective community initiative in which people aged 55 and older come together several times a week to exercise outdoors in their own neighborhood. Within this scaling project, twenty new Vitality Clubs will be established in South Holland by further strengthening collaboration with Buurtzorg. District nurses will receive training and guidance to motivate residents, stimulate local cooperation, and gradually support the clubs in transitioning to full self-organization by the participants themselves.

The project has been developed in collaboration with Leyden Academy on Vitality and Ageing, Buurtzorg Nederland, and the Vitality Club Foundation.

Six scaling projects

From the second funding round of the Healthy Society Program, five other successful health innovations were awarded funding earlier this year to support scaling. These funded projects focus on improving health in people’s everyday living and working environments. They range from group conversations about health in the neighborhood, healthier workplace lunches and remote video care, to early support for young people in youth mental healthcare and blood pressure improvement through a proven approach.

The Healthy Society Program is a joint initiative of Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Universities, the Province of South Holland, and Medical Delta.
