Juvoly Winner of the National Healthcare Innovation Award 2024

Wednesday, April 10, 2024

Juvoly and Valtes have been declared the winners of the National Healthcare Innovation Award 2024. Juvoly was awarded the jury prize worth €10,000. Earlier, the Leiden-based company won the South Holland preliminary round. The award ceremony took place today during the Health & ICT event.

Juvoly makes the consultation with the general practitioner personal and more enjoyable thanks to the 'QuickConsult' solution. The computer listens in on the conversation between the patient and the GP. After the consultation, the conversation is automatically summarized in a structured report. The speech recognition of QuickConsult is optimized for primary care and is directly stored in the General Practitioner Information System. Smart references to relevant sources are also included in the report.

More time and attention for patients

The jury, consisting of chair Anne Marie Weggelaar-Jansen, Joris Arts, Niels van Gorp, and Menno Gravemaker, chose Juvoly for its contribution that QuickConsult makes to all general practitioners. Weggelaar-Jansen explains: “Administration is one of the biggest annoyances for professionals. By using QuickConsult, more time and attention can be given to the patient.”

“We will use the prize money to further train our models on medical Dutch. We see that there is much more speech variation than what is currently available in public datasets. This will allow us to ensure that we can recognize the speech of everyone who comes to the general practitioner,” says Thomas Kluiters, co-founder of Juvoly in a first reaction.

Juvoly was declared the winner of the South Holland preliminary round for the National Healthcare Innovation Award 2024 during the Medical Delta Café on February 27. A report of this preliminary round can be found here.

With Juvoly, another South Holland innovation wins a National Healthcare Innovation Award. Momo Medical won the audience award last year. In 2020, it was Wolk Heupairbag that won this award.
