Medical Delta professor Andrea Evers was a German-Dutch scientist who specialized in health psychology and was a professor at Leiden University. In 2019, she received the Stevin Prize, a prestigious scientific award, for her groundbreaking research on the placebo effect. That same year, she was appointed Medical Delta professor, expanding her position at Leiden University (Faculty of Social Sciences) with appointments at Delft University of Technology (Industrial Design Engineering) and Erasmus University Rotterdam (ESHPM).
She was an authority on psychological factors that play a role in the progression and recovery of medical conditions. And then she herself became ill. Journalist Maarten Dallinga spoke with:
