Preview of the Young Medical Delta Symposium 2026: Advancing Women’s Healthcare

Young Medical Delta will hold its annual symposium on Thursday, 24 September 2026, this year at the Van Assendelft Chapel in the Grote Kerk in The Hague. The symposium will focus on the theme ‘Advancing Women’s Healthcare: From Past to Progress’.

Although women’s health is receiving increasing attention worldwide, it still requires further development of knowledge, innovation and collaboration. At the symposium, Young Medical Delta will bring together students, researchers, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs and innovators to explore this topic from multiple perspectives. What progress has been made in recent years? Which challenges remain? And how can science, technology, policy and practice reinforce one another to further improve healthcare for women?

During the evening, three speakers will share their perspectives on women’s health from different angles. Prof. dr. Hanneke Takkenberg (Erasmus University Rotterdam) will show why women’s health is about much more than a medical issue, and what becomes possible when we look beyond the boundaries of individual disciplines. Dr. ir. Karlheinz Samenjo (TU Delft) will explore how design, technology and innovation can contribute to more accessible and human-centred healthcare. Prof. dr. Mieneke te Hennepe (Leiden University) will take the audience on a journey through medical history, showing how ideas and perspectives from the past continue to influence healthcare today.

The evening will offer inspiring contributions, interdisciplinary discussion and opportunities for young professionals and experts in the field to connect. In doing so, the symposium provides a platform for sharing knowledge, exchanging new ideas and building connections around an important societal and medical issue.

Registration

The symposium will take place from 17:30 to 21:00 and is open to anyone interested in healthcare innovation, medical technology and women’s health. Participation is free of charge. The language of the event is English.
