RoboHouse article on Neollie: automated preparation of breast milk

Monday, January 5, 2026

Every young patient in a neonatal intensive care unit requires milk several times a day. In a large hospital such as Erasmus MC, this represents a substantial workload for nurses. The company Neollie is developing a robot to take over this task.

Nurses must carefully prepare hundreds of milk doses and add specific amounts of nutritional supplement powder to support the babies’ growth. This task is unpopular, tiring, and adds to an already heavy workload. Neollie is developing an automated system for the preparation, dosing, and fortification of breast milk.

Together with RoboHouse and Erasmus MC, they have secured a WorkTech grant, which focuses on addressing workforce pressure in healthcare.
