Sanne de Vries new chair of Medical Delta

Tuesday, June 10, 2025

Dr. Sanne de Vries will succeed Prof. Dr. Frank Willem Jansen as of August 1 as chair of Medical Delta. Together with Drs. David de Glint, she will form the board of the health and innovation consortium of Zuid-Holland’s universities and universities of applied sciences.

As a Medical Delta Professor and Scientific Leader of various research programs and living labs within Medical Delta, De Vries is well acquainted with the consortium. She brings extensive research experience as a (associate) professor Healthy Lifestyle in a Supporting Environment at The Hague University of Applied Sciences and the LUMC – Health Campus The Hague. Her administrative experience includes serving as director of the Centre of Expertise Health Innovation at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. She is also ‘Leading Lector’ of the Physical Vitality component of the SPRONG and Medical Delta program Vitale Delta.

Frank Willem Jansen is handing over the chairman’s gavel after more than five years. Jansen has been active in the consortium since the founding of Medical Delta in 2006. Both before and during his chairmanship, he was involved in various roles in the development and further advancement of research programs and the consortium as a whole, including as one of the first Medical Delta professors. Following his retirement last year as a professor at LUMC and TU Delft, he sees this as a natural moment to pass on the role of chair of Medical Delta to the next generation.

Combination of experience, vision, and ability to connect

“Sanne brings exactly the combination of experience, vision, and ability to connect that Medical Delta needs right now,” says Elisabeth Minnemann, Chair of the Supervisory Board of Medical Delta and Chair of the Executive Board of The Hague University of Applied Sciences. “She knows better than anyone how to link societal challenges to both practice-based and academic research. With her background in research and her knowledge of higher education, she is well equipped to further strengthen and accelerate Medical Delta’s transdisciplinary movement.”

“At the same time, we would like to sincerely thank Frank Willem for his years of dedication to Medical Delta. From the very beginning, he played a crucial role in building and growing the consortium. Now that he is stepping down as chair after more than five years, he leaves behind a solid foundation on which we can confidently continue to build.”
