The Healthy Society Program is a collaboration between the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Universities, Medical Delta, and the Province of South Holland, dedicated to promoting a healthier society.
By bringing together interdisciplinary scientific expertise from across South Holland, the program aims to improve health and well-being for all members of society while reducing health inequalities. To achieve this, it fosters interdisciplinary research and education in close collaboration with citizens, knowledge institutions, healthcare organisations, municipalities, and other societal partners. By helping people stay healthy for longer and enabling them to take greater control of their own health within their living environment, the program contributes to accessible and affordable healthcare.
Scaling grants expand access to health innovations
The Healthy Society Program has provided scaling grants to health projects that have demonstrated proven effectiveness. These grants enable successful initiatives to make their solutions more widely available.

About the Healthy Society Program
In the autumn of 2021, the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Universities (LDE) and Medical Delta jointly launched the Healthy Society Program, initiated by Medical Delta Professor of Healthy Society, Prof. Dr. Andrea Evers. In 2024, the Province of South Holland joined the initiative. This strong partnership brings together knowledge, expertise, and policy to reduce health inequalities and strengthen preventive healthcare. The program focuses on developing practical solutions that contribute to a healthier, more resilient society in which all residents have the knowledge and resources to improve their health. It combines the broad expertise of Leiden University, Delft University of Technology, and Erasmus University Rotterdam with the medical expertise of Leiden University Medical Center and Erasmus MC, both represented within Medical Delta.
