Medical Delta Program CARES consortium meeting 2026

The second consortium meeting of the Medical Delta Program 'Diagnostics of Cancer for Sustainable Healthcare (CARES)' took place on July 1st at The Hague University of Applied Sciences - location Delft.

Dr. Steven van den Berg and dr. Arjan Lock, both affiliated with The Hague University of Applied Sciences and members of the CARES core team, welcomed all attendees, followed by an update on the programs progress from the core team.

Next, three keynote speakers took the audience through their research. Dr. Hamed Abbassi (TU Delft & Erasmus MC) spoke about his research into the role of collagen-specific scattered light microscopy in cancer diagnosis. During the subsequent break, PhD candidates and students from the various knowledge institutions presented their posters.

After the break, Prof. Dr. Theo Ruers (NKI-AVL & TU Twente) presented his research on the transformation of surgical procedures through technology. In the final keynote, Prof. Dr. Ir. Antonia Denkova from TU Delft discussed the promises and challenges of alpha radionuclide therapy. The afternoon concluded with an informal networking reception.
