First finalist of the Zorginnovatieprijs Ditto: "The biggest pitfall is waiting for a good idea."

Ditto has become the first finalist for the Zorginnovatieprijs 2026 (National Healthcare Innovation Award), having won the regional preliminary round in the province of Zuid-Holland. Tobias Polak, one of the three founders, explains how rethinking has led to Ditto's current existence.

Ditto solves a problem many people experience after leaving the doctor's office: what did the doctor actually say, and what should I do now?

"People forget about 60 percent of what they hear in the doctor's office. Especially if it’s complicated or life-altering. When someone is told they have cancer, their mind goes blank," says Tobias Polak, who launched the app in 2025 together with Merlijn van Breugel and Bart Voorn.
