NWO Investment Grant Large award for laboratory led by Medical Delta professor Hankemeier

The Dutch Research Council (NWO) has awarded €3.2 million for a laboratory for measuring toxic substances to Medical Delta professor Prof. Thomas Hankemeier, Scientific Leader of the scientific program METABODELTA: Metabolomics for clinical advances in the Medical Delta.

The Young Medical Delta Thesis Awards 2021 have been won by Rick Waasdorp (best Master thesis), Sebastian van der Voort (best PhD thesis) and Jette Bloemberg (public award). The jury announced the winners during the online award ceremony last night.

Over 50,000 Dutch people are living with Parkinson's disease. A lot of exercise slows down the development of the disease, but there is the risk that the body ‘freezes’ for a few seconds to minutes while walking. Cue2Walk developed a smart wearable that helps when such a ‘freeze of gait’ occurs.
